There is something special about babies. A new born baby is helpless. Totally reliant on those around it to care for and nurture it. A new born baby is symbolic of a continuation of life for without babies the human race will eventually die out. So in many aspects just as a new born baby has extraordinary need of care and nurture for its survival. at the same time, it is caring and nurturing society through its very existence of continuing the life of the human race.
Its an amazing fact of history that a little over 2000 years ago, God fulfilled his promise to the nation of Israel that he would come to reconcile the world through them to himself. And so God entrusted himself to us, and through discarding his greatness, came to us in the form of a new born baby who we know as Jesus.
For God so loved the world, he gave his only son, so that who so ever should believe in him, should not be condemned but have eternal life. Upon his shoulders would be the mantle of peace for the world. And so Christ was born to the world with a cry, in the same way all babies come into the world. And so the eternal hope of the world and for the world was born.
I find it interesting that Jesus came into the world crying and he went out of the world with a cry, crying out, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what it is they are doing!” How true it is that we don’t know what it is we are doing. We do that what we don’t want to do. We don’t do that what we want to do. And sometimes we just do what we want to do, no matter what it does to others.
This Christmas, I encourage you to think about the meaning and origin of Christmas. And what this means for you and all who live in the world around us. For to begin with it means that you don’t have to live life on your own terms; instead, you can trust the living God to know that he has a perfect plan and purpose for your life. A plan and a purpose where you know he is walking with you through the journey of life.
It’s my prayer that this year, you will know the immeasurable love of God through Jesus Christ. Blessings and may your year end in safety and your next year be truly one of peace.
