I was really encouraged–open doors.

I watched this sermon today from Acts 15, thanks to Rob from Abnormal Anabaptist, who wrote the following notes about having gone to the church while visiting family.  I have to say I was greatly encouraged and my heart warmed to hear it.  Some of Robs notes are as follows

If you are a glutton, alcoholic, heroin addict, or druggie.  Come to Jesus.  The door is wide open.

If you are broken sexually, no matter orientation.  Come to Jesus.  The door is wide open.

If you are abused, beaten down, victimized, terrorized, and frightened in a world that is supposed to be safe.  Come to Jesus.  The door is wide open.

If you are a rapist, murderer, thief, rebel, terrorist, or abuser.  Come to Jesus.  The door is wide open.

If your marriage is broken, your family is dysfunctional, if your relationships with your friends are falling apart, if there is no trust any more in your life.  Come to Jesus.  The door is wide open.

It doesn’t matter who you are, what you are struggling with, where you come from, what your background is.  It doesn’t matter how filthy you feel, how much of an outsider you feel, how lost you feel, how alone you feel.  Come to Jesus.  The door is wide open.

This does not mean that Jesus will leave you as you are.  He will change you.  He will mold you.  He will heal you.  He will lift you up.  He will free you.  He will save you.  He will love you.  You don’t have to stay dirty.  But the door is wide open.
