I consider myself a full on charismatic and enjoy and yearn for more of the Spirit of God. I also have a fairly good collection of theological books and academic connections which I draw much richness from. A wise pastor once said to me, “All spirit we blow up. All Bible we dry up. 100% of both, we grow up!”
My thoughts on the subject is that If Jesus himself needed the Holy Spirit in his own ministry, how much more do we? If Jesus gifted himself to many, how much more do we need the input of those many in our own lives. Indeed then, let us not make a choice of one above the other; instead yearn for more of the Spirit of God and recognise his presence and workings in and through all in the varied ways he chooses to.
P.S In no way am I denigrating the Bible or saying its not important, for its extremely important for our edification. I’m ensuring that we don’t have a empty philosophy of father, son and holy bible.
