Greek. I’m not the only one.

Last night at class I was talking to some of the students who are also taking 1st semester Greek, and had started the day before. They were reading their text book and you could see the fog already clouding their minds.

I had to laugh, because they too were starting to memorise the Greek alphabet as Alpha, Beta, Gamma…etc. This was one of the major mistakes I made when I started to learn also. I was pleased to note that some of the cloud started to lift from them, their eyes started to liven up once again as I shared some of my own difficulty in learning Greek and some of the pitfalls to avoid. Such as don’t memorise the alphabet through its phonetic spelling, but memorise it through each letters pronunciation. A, B, G, D, E…..
