Pastoral questions.

I have been reflecting tonight on my experience of being a Christian. I became born again on the 17th of March, 10:30am, 1997. This means I have nearly spent 15 years in service to the King of kings.

During this time I have had great experiences and not so great experiences in the church. I have experienced great pastoring, and I have experienced not so great pastoring. I have been shown much grace, and have been shown little to no grace. And if the truth be told, I too have shown the same at one time or another.

But tonight it struck me that there are a number of questions that I have never been asked on a regular basis by any of my pastoral overseers. And yet, I believe these questions should be asked on a regular basis. And again, I too am guilty of not asking others these same questions; at least on a regular basis.

The questions I would like to ask and be asked are as follows and are in no particular order.

  1. How is your walk with God?
  2. In what areas of your life do you need help to exercise faith?
  3. Who do you regularly pray for?
  4. Who have you asked recently to pray for you?
  5. How are you active in sharing your faith with others?
  • How are your relationships with others?
  • How do you exercise relationship with others.
  • How can you relate to others on a more effective basis.
  • Perhaps you can think of other questions, or better ways to frame the intent behind these questions.
