I wish there was a third option for comment moderation in Word Press.

I like the Word Press blogging platform and for the most part, think it has every thing covered, that a author needs. The one area I can see that has a need for change is within the framework of comment moderation.

Here we only have two options…either moderate all comments or moderation happens for the first comment and then once that is approved, the commenter has a free pass. I myself hate blanket comment moderation. This seems to work well on my blog. I don’t like to censor people. The spam catcher does a fantastic job and I am grateful for it and for the most part, this censors out the garbage.

There are times though when ones guest do get a little rowdy. They get a little over bearing. They get a little to comfortable in what they say, when they say it and how they say it. And in doing so forget their manners. There are times when people forget they are guests invited to join in and engage with what has been said within a edifying and non trolling framework. It’s for these people that Word Press could improve its accessibility of having a third option in comment control. One where individuals can be placed on comment moderated status.

I think this small tweak would further enhance Word Press’s capabilities and ease of use. Overall, I think Word Press is a fantastic blogging platform and I thank the team for providing such a fantastic service for the blogging community.

  1. Stuart says:

You can place individuals in moderation Craig.

Go to “Settings” then “Discussion” then you place their IP, email or URL, in “Comment Moderation”

You can also blacklist in “Comment Blacklist” in the same manner and all their comments go straight to spam.

    Hope this helps.
