How is society to make just judgements?

A interesting question came up in a recent conversation about God being the judge and how we are not to judge others

Matthew 7.1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

This raises an interesting thought about the role of the court system within society. Does this scripture forbid “Judgement” on a carte blanche level?

  1. tildeb says:

A just judgement is based on a just law in the legal sense. The argument that scripture reveals god’s law is without just cause.

The notion that we shouldn’t judge is just plain silly… we have to do it all the time to survive.

It seems to me that in these politically correct times of rampant relativism and deep moral confusion, judging itself is considered to be the greater crime than any criminal act being judged!
